With marriages and kids for the girls, we aren't taking on as many events as we once did. Jessica and Cris are both back to teaching lessons and Cris has a Kindermusic class.(05/20/16)

 

 Its been a while since we updated.... we are not scheduling as many shows as we used to, with the girls being married and work schedules.... we are still playing select events and all of us are branching out, Jessica & her husband Steven play some weddings and other events, Cris is active in community theater, John is playing with a great gospel group, Strong Ties, and Randy is playing with the classic rock group Elevation 1255. Two of our songs were used on a documentary, Guns of April, produced by ESV Teleproductions of Ohio. The film includes our versions of "Lorena" and "Bonnie Blue Flag". Copies my be ordered from: www.gunsof april.com. (122511)

Jessica will be working at the Mark O'Connor Fiddle Camp in Johnson City, TN in June.

The Ball Sisters Band has advanced to the final round of voting in the "Best Up & Coming" category. Thanks to all those who voted.

We learned we are nominated for two Southern Heritage Music Awards! We are nominated for best up and coming group and best female vocalist (Cris). We are honored to be nominated for the third consecutive year.(122810)

We are in the finals of the Southern Heritage Music Awards in the "Up & Coming Group" catagory. It's a great honor for us & we appreciate those who voted and hope you'll consider us in the final round of voting.

The 2009 Southern Heritage Music Award noninations were just announced. We are nonimated in two catagories: Cris Ball for Best Female Performer and The Ball Sisters Band for Up & Coming Group! We've just finished putting together a new CD, Holston River Waltz. It is a compilation of our three CDs on Project One records, and also includes three new recordings, Jimmie Rodgers' Any Old Time, Jim Croce's I'll Have to Say I Love You in a Song, and a new gospel song, Just Up Ahead, written by our friend Hubert Drinnon. Randy has a story in the April 2009 issue of Bluegrass Unlimited on pages 44 & 45. It is entitled "ETSU Unveils the Walls of Time". (032409)

Jessica is now endorsing Keith Williams Fiddles. Keith has a shop in Chucky, Tennessee and builds great fiddles. (021509)

We'll be playing at "Archie Campbell Days" in Bulls Gap, TN on Labor Day, Sept 1, at 10:00am. We will play immediately before the Primitive Quartet. It's an honor to share the same stage as one of the county's top gospel groups.(07/11/08)

"Old Lonesome Sounds" is included on the CD "Bluegrass Radio Power, Vol. 3", from Happy Creek Music. Other songs included are by Grasstown, Paul Craft, Gary Brewer & The Kentucky Ramblers, The Circuit Riders, Tim Graves & Cherokee and Larry Cordle.

There is a story about the Ball Sisters Band on page 116 of the new book, Grass Roots, A Musical Heritage of East Tennessee.

We learned that in August we will be the opening act for The Dillards! On August 13, we'll be playing at 6:00pm before the Dillards show at 7:00pm at Ritters Farms in Bean Station, TN. (03/30/05)

On June 1, the International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA) announced that Randy is one of ten songwriters selected to participate in the Songwriters Showcase at the "World of Bluegrass 2004", in Louisville, KY on October 5. (06/06/04)

Cris won first place in the mandolin competition at the Scott Coumty, VA, Fiddlers Convention in June. It was her second consecutive year as the winner. She also won third in the guitar competition, while Jessica placed second in fiddle.(06/23/04)
 
On April 20, 2004 at The Down Home in Johnson City, Tennessee, Jessica was awarded The Lester Seaton Scholarship Award from the ETSU Bluegrass, Old Time and Country Music Program. We have some exciting news in the works regarding our Christmas CD. It has been repackaged and retitled "Christmas with The Ball Sisters Band", and will be marketed and distributed by Doobie Shea Productions. Doobie Shea is the label of The Dan Tyminski Band and the Lonesome River Band. We are very excited about this project!  (09/30/03)

"11W South", our side group, made it's first appearence at the Appalachian District Fair in Gray. For this show, Larry Bass joined us as we played in the 4H building at the fair.

Fiddle Lessons.... Jessica is teaching fiddle lessons in Kingsport and Rogersville. She teaches at The School of Music in Kingsport on Tuesdays and at Music Palace in Rogersville on Saturdays. (08/03)
