Welcome to the Ball Sisters Band Website. We are a bluegrass & acoustic group from the hills of East Tennessee. We all live in Rogersville, in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. The Ball Sisters Band features the award winning musicianship of fiddler Jessica Patton and guitarist/mandolinist Cris Griffin.Their father, Randy Ball, plays guitar, while our friend John Skelton on bass rounds out the group. We usually play over fifty over performances each year and have been fortunate to get to play shows in Tennessee, Kentucky,Virginia, and North Carolina. We have played on shows and at festivals featuring The Dan Tyminski Band, Rhonda Vincent, Doc Watson, Ralph Stanley,Blue Highway, John Hartford, Mike Seeger,John Anderson, The Dillards, Doyle Lawson, The Grascals, Pine Mountain Railroad, and Ricky Skaggs.
Jessica has won several fiddle contests, began giving lessons at sixteen, and spent several years in the East Tennessee State University Bluegrass Program. Jessica played in several bands within the program, including "The ETSU Pride Band". In January 2005, Jessica was selected to be part of a group of ETSU Bluegrass musicians who toured England and Scotland. Cris won the National Beginner's Flat Top Guitar Championship at Smithville,TN in 1997 and 1998,as well as many other guitar and mandolin contests. In August, 2006, Cris joined Jessica at ETSU and participated in the Bluegrass Program. Randy is a published songwriter,and was selected for the Songwriter's Showcase at the 2004 IBMA World of Bluegrass. Three of his songs have recently been cut by independent artists. John is also an accomplished mandolin player.
We strive to put a lot of variety into our music, and include Bluegrass, old-time, rock and roll and gospel. Our music includes originals, fiddle tunes,hymns, waltzes and more! You can listen to us on our Soundclick.com mp3 site, and many websites feature our songs as digital downloads. We have been added to "All-Music Guide" and "CMT" websites.We are proud that our recordings have been played on the radio in the United States, Canada, France, Holland, Ireland, England, Germany, Italy, Japan, Norway, Russia,Australia, Belgium, Luxemburg, and New Zealand. We would like to play for you, but if you are out of our area, we have several recordings available. In April, 2008 we released "Dixie", a CD of Civil War-related songs. It was nominated for three 2008 Southern Heritage Music Awards, and made the finals in all three categories.In 2009 it was nominated for two awards, and reached the finals in one category. In 2009 we released Holston River Waltz, a compilation CD of our work on Project One Records. Our Latest recording is "When Love Comes Calling". Either live or recorded, we will do our best to provide quality music and family entertainment!
